Singkhon border post upgrade expected this month

The Singkhon border post is expected to be upgraded into a special border checkpoint this month, along with other infrastructure development projects, says the governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

As the National News Bureau of Thailand reports, the governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Veera Sriwattanatrakul has said that the upgrade of the Singkhon border post into a special border checkpoint is now awaiting the final endorsements from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior for official proclamation, after the matter has already been approved by the Cabinet. 

The special border checkpoint, expected to be officially opened this month, will ease the border crossing regulations, facilitating the trade and investment between Thailand and Myanmar.

The Prachuap Khiri Khan governor has also said that the province is in the process of improving its infrastructure such the expansion of road to the Singkhon border post, the construction of customs point building, as well as the border trade regulation. These projects will require a 4 year budget commitment from from the government during 2015 to 2018.
