News from Ban Krut

No comments :
Only a few days left until the new year, the expat community Ban Krut's is growing. Many familiar faces are back again. For all others an overview of what has changed since last April from a tourist point of view, or still is the same.

Ban Krut Thailand

Travel to and from Ban Krut

Train

Timetable State Railway of Thailand

Ban Krut train station: 2 trains daily to Bangkok.

Bus

Blue Buses starting every hour Downtown Ban Krut at the T-junction or at the Phetkasem Road.

Buses from Bangkok to Ban Krut start at the Southern Bus Terminal.

Minibus

Minibus service from Ban Krut: Tickets and departure in front of the train station.
New connection to Prachuap Khiri Khan and further to Bangkok.

From and to Suvarnbhumi Airport

Alternative: take the Airport Bus to or from Hua Hin. From or to Hua Hin take bus, minibus, train or even a taxi.

However you travel, book always in advance.

Tourist Office

The office is now located in Downtown Ban Krut, on the drive from the 7-Eleven on the left of the T-junction next to Nan's Salon Station. Later will be a counter in the not yet opened new hotel Nanicha, the 3-storey block next door, where the office was earlier.

Western Food

Kasama's Pizza & Pasta

Since September there's the best pizza and pasta, the largest selection of wine and beer Ban Kruts at the new location 200 meters from the 7-Eleven towards Wat Thong Chai.

Baan Itim

Baan Itim serves Western Food.
Right next to the Coffee Next Door and owned by the same Baan Itim doesn’t just offer ice cream, but also very nice and good-tasting steaks, salads and pizzas from the wood oven at very reasonable prices. Ice cream there’s also, even homemade.

Steak Nonggal

New small restaurant between 7-Eleven and Downtown Ban Krut, right next to the bridge over the Klong. Nonggal offers steaks, salads and pizzas at a low price.

La Lune Moonshine Bar & Bistro

Unfortunately, the La Lune is closed forever, the operator in Bangkok and the building together with 800m2 land is for sale (information, visit at O in Coffee Next Door).

Seafood

Recommended from our perspective still are Platoo, Tam Mai and Ruam Pol, all located on the main Beach Road.

New and highly recommended is the Khun Rak, from 7-Eleven at the beginning of Beach Road with Salas on the beach.

Well again after re-change of ownership is The Beach, one kilometer from the T-junction to the south.

Coffee Shops

Everything is individual, but in our view you still get the best coffee in Coffee Next Door. Recommended are further the Café de Wa of Arcadia, the Coffee Shop of Greenview Resort also at the Beach Road and the small cafe bar of Ban Krut Resort.

New Bon Café is right next to the steak Nonggal on the road between 7-11 and Downtown Ban Krut.

Bars

As mentioned the La Lune Moonshine Bar doesn’t exist anymore. For a sundowner, Grimlund's Bar and the Hotspot Ban Krut's, the Gecko Bar of Siripong are the places to go.

The infamous Gecko Bar at night.
For an enjoyable evening also invite restaurants like JJ's Hamburgers and Tam Mai Restaurant, but there's not much more than beer.

For a selection of wines and drinks visit Kasama's. In these places are also those welcome who only come for a drink.

Most of the other Thai restaurants look at least surprising, if nothing is ordered to eat.

Shopping

Please take account of the small shops and markets, to avoid plastic waste bring your own shopping bag.

The Saturday market is since last spring behind the railway tracks by the railway crossing.

Since the beginning of December there's next to the „Government Palace“ a Friday market. Opening time as the Saturday market from later afternoon until dark.

In addition, the daily morning market at the train station as well as the Thursday market next to Wat Thong Chai are the places to buy fresh products.

Resorts

Newly opened the Prayook Resort, a resort with several smaller bungalows, on the beach next to Suan Waree in direction towards Bang Saphan

The Kereewaree is under new ownership and is now called D'varan. To date has not yet been determined whether therefore also the quality of service and maintenance has improved.

Also changed hands has the Lieb Nati Resort. It is now called Seascape and belongs Livinghouse. The same company that sells newly built Condominiums outskirts of Ban Krut.

In our view, less advisable for those seeking a peaceful atmosphere, are the resorts on the main stretch of beach, as they often accommodate Thai coach tours, during their short stay each night loud karaoke evenings are given.

The price level is more or less the previous year.

Cycling

Cycling is becoming increasingly popular, even with Thais. There’s now, close to the Wat Chang Sai, even a bike shop.

Unfortunately, the rental bikes are still as ever, and most do have a backpedal brake. Nevertheless, it's fun at the seaside or to cycle through coconut trees.

Do not forget to always take a stick against attacking dogs. The same goes for walks on the beach.

Trash Hero Ban Krut

Since the end of April volunteers clean every Monday the beaches outside of the sections, which are maintained by the municipality and the resorts, of non organic waste such as plastic, styrofoam, bottles, etc.

Trash Hero volunteers after the clean up on 14 Dezember 2015.
Donate also two hours of your holiday to safe your paradise. Meeting point is every Monday at 8 clock at the T-junction just off the beach. Transport, gloves and drinking water is provided.

If something hurts

Is it not so bad, stop by at the pharmacy Downtown Ban Krut. The owner speaks English and has good medical knowledge.

Otherwise, the only way, except the small infirmary in the district behind the railway tracks, is to go to a clinic or the hospital in Bang Saphan.

In more serious things, the trip to Hua Hin in one of the well-known hospitals is recommended.

In case of emergency call 1669, here all emergency services:

Emergency in Thailand: Telephone numbers.
